Cultural Champion Visit

On Wednesday we also had a visit from a cultural champion who taught us all about the Sikhism religion. We got to experience traditional dancing and the children got to wear traditional dress too! We had a fun filled morning learning through stories and dance.

Also this week the children designed and created a special outfit for a person attending a 1950’s garden party. We looked at the fashion trends in the 1950’s and incorporated these into our designs.

Our First Forest School session

This week Potter class experienced their first ever forest school session. The children had a great time learning and exploring outside. The children started by using their imagination by finding a stick and pretending it was something else. The children came up with some great ideas such as a magic wand, a unicorn horn and a hairbrush.

The children then had a challenge to find five natural objects and to play a memory game with their partners. As well as playing the game the children had the chance to explore climbing trees and finding new paths in the bushes.

We had a fantastic first session and can’t wait for our second one!

A fun week in Year 1 and 2!

This week we had a go at creating firework art using oil pastels. The children chose bright colours to create fun firework patterns.

In Potter class this week we have been exploring our number bonds. Year 1 have done some super maths work and been focussing on learning their number bonds to 10. They have enjoyed using Numicon and ten frames to help them.
